A Motorcycle Ride from Delhi to Bangalore | Beautiful Eastern Ghats

This post is about “A Motorcycle Ride from Delhi to Bangalore” through beautiful Eastern Ghats of India. The route I took from Delhi to Bangalore is divided into 2 phase “Delhi to Jharkhand” and Jharkhand to Bangalore. During my ride from Delhi to Bangalore on Motorcycle, I experienced different aspects of life and nature. Almost 4000 Km, Delhi to Bangalore on Motorcycle. This was a dream made true after a wait of 8 years. Experiencing the Mesmerizing Eastern Ghats of India. A ride on my Royal Enfield Classic 350. This is an inspiration for my life. I did not care when people said, I have gone mad. I am one of the few people to do this.

The Route I took from Delhi to Bangalore

A Ride Through Beautiful Eastern Ghats

The route that I took was not straight, as I did not want to cover the distance. I wanted to experience India. So, I took a longer route. I am a working professional and do not get leaves very often. Whatever leaves I get, I use them for my riding. Moreover, it was my dream to ride along the Eastern Ghats of India.

Jharkhand is my native place and I divided the ride into 2 Phases. I used one weekend to ride from Delhi to Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. So, I started Friday Night from Delhi and reached Hazaribagh by Sunday Morning. That was not a straight route though. This was 3rd time when I stopped at Varanasi (Benaras).

During the second phase, I had 6 days of leave and 2 weekends. I covered Jharkhand to Bangalore in 7 days and 1 day was in a buffer.

Phase 1 – Delhi to Jharkhand

Motorcycle Ride from Delhi to Bangalore

Phase 1 was my ride from Delhi to Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. In my post earlier “My Love For My Motorcycle“, I mentioned that I made 4 trips from Delhi to Jharkhand through different routes. So, I did not want to visit the same places as I had to cover a long distance from Jharkhand to Bangalore.

From Delhi to Hazaribagh, it is almost 1100 Km. I reached Hazaribagh Sunday Morning. I gave my Motorcycle to the mechanic for Servicing and checkups. While my Motorcycle was going through a checkup, I took a good rest to recharge my body for my dream ride.

I started Sunday Evening from Hazaribagh on the decided route which was along the Eastern Ghats of India.

Phase 2 – Jharkhand to Bangalore Ride

As you read, I reached Hazaribagh on Sunday Morning and my Motorcycle was checked up for fitness and serviced. I started Sunday at 7:00 PM after taking a long rest.

My first-day ride was from Hazaribagh – Ranchi – Simdega – Sambalpur (420 Km. Ride Duration: 11 Hours)

I reached Sambalpur by 6:00 AM Monday. I looked for some lodge but that would have delayed my ride. I reached Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur. The Dam opens for visitors at around 8:30 AM. So, I parked my Motorcycle in a shade and slept for 2 hours. I do not carry an expensive camera or mobile phone during the rides, so, you will not find good pictures and I can sleep in places peacefully.

I did not want to rest for a day in Sambalpur, and I got good sleep for 2 hours. So, I felt recharged without wasting any time I started to move further. My next stoppage was BhanjNagar in Odisha.

It was a hot summer when I started from Sambalpur and it was draining all the energy out of me. I stopped midway to eat something. It was a hotel on the Sambalpur – Bhanjnagar expressway. I do not remember the exact name of the restaurant. However, I stayed there for 2 to 3 hours and started from there about, 3:00 PM.

I was crossing the Kalahandi Range on my right and Dasapalla Elephant Reserve on my right.

I crossed a long arid zone, scorching sun, and a lot of heat. The hot gush of the wind was sucking all the energy out of my body. As soon as I entered the Kalinga Ghati, (Yes! the same Kalinga which changed the heart of Emperor Ashoka.) it all became awesome. Then it started raining and I started getting calls from my family that there is a cyclone hitting Odisha today. Mesmerizing Eastern Ghats of India.

I could feel it, as time passed by, it started raining heavily and I had to stop at BhanjNagar.

In Bhanja Nagar, it rained heavily. I was so tired that after dinner at a nearby hotel, I slept. In the morning when I checked, it was still raining. I thought I will not be able to cover the distance. I could see my dream getting shattered.
